MBU BASKETBALL PICKS-UP WIN OVER BAPTIST BIBLE

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Missouri Baptist men's basketball ended a two-game slide on Thursday night against Baptist Bible in an 83-71 victory.

Missouri Baptist (2-2) began the game down 0-2, which ended up the only time the team trailed on the evening. After two tough defeats on home court, the Spartans broke out of their scoring slump.

Kalvin Lewis was huge all night for the team. The junior had 17 on the night to lead the team to go along with his five rebounds. LeAndre Johnson also put together another fine performance, knocking-down 12 points of his own.

In fact, four players finished in double digits. Sophomore Matt Holmes rebounded from a shaky performance early this week against Mid-Continent University with 11 points on the night. This tied the point total of true freshman Kendall Smith. The 6'8" forward from Belleville, Ill. (Belleville West High School) notched his first double-digit scoring effort of his collegiate career.

On Friday, MBU will get yet another crack at the No. 21-ranked Evangel. In the last meeting of the teams on Saturday, the Crusaders blew-out the Spartans by 18. The game seemed out of reach after the first half, but MBU rallied to outscore their opponent by seven in the second half.

The team will return home for exhibition play on Saturday as the Logan College Llamas come to the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex for a 4:00 p.m. tip.
