Hannibal, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team dominated on the road in a conference match-up at Hannibal-LaGrange winning in straight sets, 3-0.
Earlier in the season, the Spartans beat the Trojans at home in four sets, so the team was looking to sweep the season series. In the first set, the team grabbed the early advantage and went on to win convincingly 25-17. The Spartans had 13 kills in the set, holding Hannibal-LaGrange to just seven.
It was a tougher second set, as the Trojans battled the entire game. However, with the help from Jonathan Roldan the team was able to hold on for the 25-22 victory. Roldan, had a game high 15 kills and a hitting percentage of .345. The team committed just two errors in the game.
The third set was the most exciting one of the evening. The Spartans had an early lead only to see the Trojans fight back. Missouri Baptist was one point away from victory, but the team committed a serving error, keeping Hannibal-LaGrange alive. The team was able to close out Hannibal-LaGrange for the 30-28 set and match win.
Sam Platt had a strong game offensively and defensively, adding 11 digs and seven kills for a .353 hitting percentage. Steve Greaves hit .316 and also added seven kills. Robert Esser chipped in 30 assists for a team hitting percentage of .333.
The teams' record moves to 12-6 and will look for redemption at home against Lindenwood University tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
