ST. LOUIS, Mo.- After pulling a almost impressive comeback against Indiana Wesleyan, the Missouri Baptist women's soccer team were shut down by Grace College, falling 4-0 in the finale of the Wildcat Classic.
The Spartans were looking to come out quicker offensively than their previous game, however, it was the Lady Lancers getting on the board first. Mallory Rondeau scored in the 10th minute beating goalie Elizabeth Kahn to make it 1-0 Grace College.
Just nine minutes later, it was Rondeau again scoring her seventh goal on the season, extending the lead to 2-0 putting the Spartans behind early. Offensively, Missouri Baptist couldn't get anything going as the team was held to two shots in the first half, and three for the game.
The Lady Lancers struck again in the 27th minute as Carianne Sobey made it 3-0 at the half. GC totaled 12 shots in the first half, with Kahn making four saves.
Grace College went on to add one more goal in the 54th minute scored by Holly Bennett to make it a final 4-0. In the game, the Spartans were outshot 24-3 and were unable to get a corner kick, as the Lady Lancers had seven. MBU's Carly Hampel, Melissa Turney and Megan Huffman were the only Spartans to have a shot.
The teams' record falls to 3-6 on the year, but the Spartans will be looking to get back to their winning ways and get their first conference win at Stephens College on September 22nd. Kick off will start at 1:00 p.m.
