ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's wrestling ran into the top team in the nation on Wednesday night. The Oklahoma City University Stars, currently ranked as the No. 1 collegiate wrestling team in the WCWA, handed Missouri Baptist a 34-12 defeat at home in a battle of Top 10 teams.

Missouri Baptist came into the dual looking to grab an upset, but started down 0-5 as Oklahoma City's Stephanie Geltmacher led things off with a win by Fall in just 30 seconds over MBU's Brenda Gonzalez.

The Spartans suffered its second loss at 170lbs just a few minutes later. Demi Strub outlasted Missouri Baptist's Darcie Manning-O'Brien by decision to extend the lead to 8-1. The Spartans collected just three wins on the night, with the first at 191lbs. Juliana Triplett briefly put MBU back in the contest with a win by fall over Sherese Thomas to make it 8-6 OCU advantage.

Missouri Baptist took a brief lead after the 101lb match. The Spartan's Caitlyn Chase defeated Oklahoma City's Briana Rahall by decision to give the home team a 9-8 lead. The advantage, however, did not last long. The Stars won five of the next six matches, which included forfeits at 109 and 116 to beat the Spartans.

Cheyenne Youngblood secured the final victory of the night for MBU with a 2-0, 3-0 decision over Rachael Young. Next up for the Spartans will be the WCWA National Championship Tournament at King College in Tennessee in just over one week's time.
