Spartan's Women's Wrestling Claims Senior Night Victory over YellowJackets to Close Regular Season

ST.LOUIS, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling team closed its regular season at home with its Senior Night dual versus Graceland University (Iowa) on Thursday night. The Spartans won the dual 35-15, their second conference dual victory in their first season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The Spartans celebrated both Alyssa King and Cara Cheng, who stepped on the MBU mat for the last time as wrestlers for the program.

Due to the holes in each squad's line-up, the only contested weight came at 103, where Lillian Hackworth picked up the win in the first period. Hackworth came out of the gate extremely offensive and pushed the pace to get the step-out point immediately. Hackworth continued on a tear where she found six points and eventually the fall in under 80 seconds.

The Spartans collected forfeits at 110, 117, 145, 160, 180, and 207. The Yellojackets picked up forfeits at 124, 131, and 138.

The Spartans look ahead to the postseason at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament in just over a week on Saturday, Feb. 28, on the campus of William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in hopes of claiming a spot in the NAIA National Championships.
