SPARTAN GRAPPLERS TAKE-ON FIELD AT OCU DUALS

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling saw its toughest competition yet at the Oklahoma City University Duals. The "A" team went 3-3 on the weekend and finished eighth overall in the Gold Bracket, while the "B" team became the champion in the Bronze Bracket and finished with a 2-4 record to finish the event.

The Spartan "A" team entered competition in Oklahoma City undefeated after a big showing at the Spartan Duals. The team hoped to continue its success and was led again by the phenomenal wrestling on Cheyenne Youngblood. The sophomore went a perfect 6-0 and defeated four nationally ranked wrestlers in the process. Youngblood remains undefeated in 2013.

The Spartans picked-up just five points against King College, currently the No. 2-ranked team in the WCWA as Youngblood notched the lone win in the dual. Later in the day on Friday in Pool Play, the Spartans picked-up one of its three wins on the day against No. 7 Wayland Baptist.

The MBU "B" squad had a rough outing on Friday, but picked themselves up on Saturday to grab the Bronze Bracket championship out of the clutches of Waldorf College. MBU defeated University of Jamestown 30-10 and were able to have the opportunity to take-on the Waldorf Warriors for the title.

MBU's Jordan White led the team in the matchup against Waldorf. The freshman out of Houston, Texas defeated Pamela Castillo by Tech Fall to take home the win.

MBU will head back out on the road this week to take-on McKendree on Friday in Lebanon, Ill.
