SOFTBALL BATS QUIET IN ARKANSAS

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Missouri Baptist softball team dropped two games Friday afternoon against the number 14-ranked Williams Baptist Eagles, losing 4-0 in the first game and 12-0 in the second game. 

The Spartans bats were quiet all day, recording only two hits in the first game and only two hits in the second game.

The Eagles jumped on top of MBU early in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs on three hits. They would add one more run in the third inning. MBU starting pitcher Jena Trombley went five innings giving up four runs, two of them earned, and seven hits while striking out one. The MBU offense only hit .087 and the Eagles bats hit .333 for the game.

Williams Baptist struck early again in the second game of the day. The Eagles took advantage of the Spartans miscues in the first inning scoring three runs on two hits and three errors and did not stop there. They would add two more runs in the bottom of the second inning and the Eagles kept on scoring.

In the top of the fourth inning Shelby Anderson stepped up to the plate and hit a two run home run. The Eagles would cross five more runs in the inning and took a 12-0 lead over the Spartans. The Williams Baptist bats hit .462 for the game while the MBU bats only hit .167.

Missouri Baptist now moves to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in the American Midwest Conference. The Spartans look to turn it around tomorrow against the Lyon College Scots. First pitch of the double-header is set for 12:00 p.m.
