ST. LOUIS - [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team traveled to face AMC opponent Columbia College on Saturday. Despite all efforts, the Spartans fell 2-0.
Missouri Baptist (5-4-3, 5-1-1) was outshot 8-0 in the first half as Columbia controlled the pace of play throughout. MBU goalkeeper Kathryn Kessler held the Cougars until the last two minutes of the half, when the Cougars Kelly Ross notched the first point for CC.
The Spartans were able to get four shots off in the second half, but the Cougars held strong at the net. Laurie Frew found the back of the net for Columbia, which raised the score to 2-0 in favor of the home team.
Kessler held Columbia to two goals with eight saves.
MBU will return to its own turf to face Lindenwood University – Belleville on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. The game will begin at noon at CBC field.
