SPARTANS ON THE HUNT AT TIFFIN

THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play its eighth football game in the inaugural 2014 season on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 against NCAA Division II) opponent Tiffin University. This is the second game of the season for the Spartans against an Division II opponent. This will be the seventh game of the season for the Crusaders and eighth for the Spartans. Bo Bunton will be on the call for MBU.

MAKING HISTORY: Missouri Baptist Football made history on Aug. 28, 2014 at NCAA Division I FCS opponent Southeast Missouri State in the team's first game in team history. MBU dropped that game 77-0 in Cape Girardeau in front of a crowd of over 7,000. Today's game will be the eighth game in the career of head coach Jason Burianek. MBU is still looking to post its first win of the season after a 55-7 loss to NCAA Division I opponent Valparaiso one week ago. DeMarco Billups is expected to get seventh start for the Spartans at quarterback.

TIFFIN UNIVERSITY: The Dragons are 3-3 on the year, but boast a big passing game.  Wide Receiver Marcus Beauream is closing in on the career receptions record at Tiffin, currently held by Tennessee Titans wide receiver Nate Washington. Beauream needs just six receptions this season to break the record.

The Dragons are averaging just over 271 yards passing in 2014 and average over 21 points per game this season. Opponents, however, are averaging 38.8 points per game on the Tiffin defense.

The Tiffin offense is led by quarterback Antonio Pipkin. The 6-3 signal-caller leads the team in both passing yards (1,628) and rushing yards (233) in a Texas Tech-style offense.

FOR THE RECORD: Missouri Baptist has not given-up less than 40 points in any single game this season. Tiffin can pull into third place of the GLIAC South Division with a win on Saturday and a Findlay loss. Missouri Baptist will be starting the same defensive line for the second consecutive game for the first time in 2014.
