THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play its sixth football game in the inaugural 2014 season on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 against Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. at 2:00 p.m. This will be the fifth game of the season for the Bearcats and sixth for the Spartans. Brad Cygan, the road voice of Missouri Baptist Football, will be on the call for MBU.
MAKING HISTORY: Missouri Baptist Football made history on Aug. 28, 2014 at NCAA Division I FCS opponent Southeast Missouri State in the team's first game in team history. MBU dropped that game 77-0 in Cape Girardeau in front of a crowd of over 7,000. Saturday's game will be the sixth game in the career of head coach Jason Burianek. MBU is still looking to post its first win of the season after a loss on the road against future Mid-States Football Association rival, Lindenwood-Belleville. Missouri Baptist, as a whole, is celebrating its 50-year anniversary in 2014.
SOUTHWEST BAPTIST: The Bearcats have struggled in the early-going in GLVC play this season after dropping their last two consecutive games to University of Indianapolis and Missouri S&T.
SBU represents the biggest passing attack the Spartans have seen since week one at Southeast Missouri State. Willie Tindal leads the Bearcats as the quarterback with an average of over 300 yards per game in the air. His favorite target, Nathan Mourik has averaged just over 140 yards receiving per game this season.
FOR THE RECORD: Missouri Baptist scored the least amount of points it had all season, outside of week one, against Lindenwood-Belleville. The Spartans are giving-up over 378 yards of rushing per game and running backs are averaging just under eight yards per carry.
SBU is also having issues stopping the run. The Bearcats are giving-up 4.7 yards per carry and have allowed opponents 819 yards on the ground this season.
