SPARTANS GET FIRST WIN ON HOMECOMING

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] On the same day where he was named Homecoming King, Dalton Barcom made his day even more special. The sophomore caught two touchdown passes in a 34-10 victory over Haskell Indian Nations. The win was not only the first in the history of Missouri Baptist Football, but the first in the career of head coach, Jason Burianek.

Missouri Baptist (1-9) began the game down as the Indians took an early lead on a 35 yard field goal by Rafael Rios. It was all Spartans from this point forward. MBU collected 18 first downs in the game and had one of its biggest offensive days with 373 all-purpose yards on the day.

The Spartans had yet to lead in any game in the 2014 season until they broke through later in the first quarter. DeMarco Billups connected with Dalton Barcom on a 33-yard touchdown pass with just under three minutes remaining in the quarter to make it a 7-3 game.

MBU extended that lead in its first drive of the second quarter. Antoryio Barton led the charge with a 10-yard rush into the end zone to make it a 14-3 Spartan lead.

As the half concluded, Alex McGlassion connected on his first of two field goals on the day to make it a 17-3 ball game.

The Spartans continued the offensive explosion in the second half. Dalton Barcom bested his previous touchdown of 33 yards with one for 40 in the third quarter to increase the Missouri Baptist lead to 24-3.

Missouri Baptist's defense came to play on Saturday as both Randy Hunt and Ryan Woodland both recorded interceptions while Connor Bomstad forced a fumble as well.

DeMarco Billups finished the game 10-17 in passing with 165 yards and three touchdowns. It was his first three-touchdown performance of his career. Another first came from Dalton Barcom. His two-touchdown performance was the first of his career. He finished with 88 yards receiving.

Missouri Baptist has just one game remaining in the 2014 season as the team will head to North Carolina next weekend to take-on the Campbell University Camels. Game time is scheduled for 12:00pm CST in Buies Creek, N.C.
