ST. LOUIS - [Box Score] The hot-shooting performance from junior Bryce Weibrecht was not enough to spark the Spartans, as the Missouri Baptist men's basketball team fell to Crowley's Ridge, 84-74. The Spartans dropped to 1-10 on the season.
Junior Bryce Weibrecht scored 17 points in the defeat. He sank 6-of-10 shots from the floor, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range. He also made 3-of-5 from the charity stripe and pulled down five rebounds.
Sophomore Chris Buzzell led the Spartans with 19 points, making 8-of-21 from the field. Buzzell was just 1-of-9 from three-bal range, but made both free throw attempts.
Junior Stephen Buckner II racked-up 12 points on 3-of-9 shooting and 2-of-4 from three-point territory. He sank 4-of-6 from the free throw line and dished three assists.
Stanley Eboh had a night to remember on the glass. He pulled down a career-high ten rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. The junior also scored seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field.
Missouri Baptist shot .384 from the field in the game, making 28-of-73 shots. The Spartans struggled from deep range, hitting just .6-of-24 3-ball shots. Crowley's Ridge shot .429 in the contest, including sinking 8-of-23 from three-point range.
Crowley's Ridge led 39-38 at the half after making 16-of-38 from the floor. The Spartans shot an efficient .405 over the first 20 minutes of play.
The Spartans could never get into a rhythm in the second half, as the Pioneers outscored MBU in the half, 45-36 to earn the 10-point victory. Crowley's Ridge made 14-of-32 shots from the field in the half, while Missouri Baptist made 13-of-36 from the field.
Missouri Baptist takes on Freed-Hardman on Thursday to conclude the 2014 portion of the schedule. The Spartans will attempt to pick up its first American Midwest Conference victory of the season.
