WOMEN'S WRESTLING FINISHES CAMPBELLSVILLE DUALS WITH 2-2 RECORD

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist women's wrestling team finished with a 2-2 record at the Campbellsville Duals on Saturday. The Spartans participated against Campbellsville, Life, Cumberlands, and Missouri Valley.

In the first dual of the day, the Spartans fell to host Campbellsville, 35-9. Bree Rapoza and Cheyenne Youngblood picked up the only two victories for Missouri Baptist in the dual. Rapoza won the bout at 123 lb., winning by decision, 8-0. Youngblood won by tech fall, 13-3, in the 155 lb. weight class.

Against the Cumberlands "B" squad, Missouri Baptist tied the dual at 23-23, but lost by criteria. Isabella Silva won the 116 lb. bout, winning by pin at 5:58 into the match. Rapoza followed with a pin just 42 seconds into the bout. Youngblood continued her dominant day by winning the 155 lb. class bout, 7-0. Anissa Rodriguez won the final bout of the dual, 10-8, which forced the 23-23 tie.

The first victory of the day came against Missouri Valley College by a commanding 35-15 score. Rapoza moved to 3-0 on the day by winning by pin in the first match of the dual. Erika Mihalca won the 130 lb. weight class bout by pin at 3:54. Lindsay Villarmia earned her first victory of the day by picking up a tech fall win, 11-1, in the 143 lb. bout. Youngblood also moved to 3-0 after winning by pin at 2:39. Aylin Hernandez, who won by forfeit in the previous dual, won by pin at 5:14. Marylou Martinez ended the dual with a pin at 2:14 in the 116 lb. bout.

In the final dual of the day, Missouri Baptist blasted Life University, 31-16. Mihalca got things started in impressive fashion, winning the 130 lb. bout by pin in just 42 seconds. After Sarah Bollinger and Cheyenne Youngblood won by forfeits, Aylin Hernandez won her bout by pin at 2:45. That extended the MBU lead to 20-4 that later ballooned to 25-8 after an Anissa Rodriguez forfeit victory. The final bout of the day did not last long. Bree Rapoza pinned her opponent in just 30 seconds, putting the finishing touches on the win.

Missouri Baptist hosts Oklahoma City at 6:00 pm on December 10. The dual will conclude the home portion of the schedule for the Spartans until they host the WCWA Nationals on February 13.
