PARK PUTS A DAMPER ON SENIOR NIGHT

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist men's basketball had a rough go of it on Thursday night in the team's final regular season game of the 2013-14 season. The Spartans allowed two Pirates to finish with double-doubles and defeated the Spartans 94-78.

Missouri Baptist (7-22, 6-13) trailed the Park Pirates by nine heading into halftime and never recovered. The Spartans were a combined 2-15 heading into the game when behind after a half and the trend continued yet again on Thursday.

Missouri Baptist shot 46 percent in the game, but it was not enough to overcome a powerful Pirate squad. Park out-rebounded MBU 43-31 and were a combined 28-32 from the free throw line in the win.

Xavielle Brown had another impressive game for the Pirates. He led all scorers with 31 points and 11 rebounds. John Kotsanos also picked-up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Kalvin Lewis' 21 points led Missouri Baptist on the night. Lewis, a senior from Houston, is now 11th on the All-Time MBU scoring list and is just five points away from tying LeAndre' Johnson for 10th.

Prior to the game, the team celebrated senior night and paid tribute to Lewis, Chad Smith and Lau'Ren Jones.

With the loss, this may end as the final home game of the Missouri Baptist season. MBU is now in a race for one of the final spots in the conference tournament that would host in the first round. MBU can improve its chances with a win over No. 4 Columbia College on Saturday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Arena at the Southwell Complex on the campus of Columbia College.
