ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's soccer was dealt a setback in the young 2014 season on Saturday in a 4-0 loss to No. 24 Benedictine College (Kan.).
As the Spartans put up a solid fight, the Ravens took the lead in the first half. Kara Hines put the first mark on the board for the Ravens to make it a 1-0 deficit for MBU.
After the half, MBU continued to pursue the NAIA No. 24-ranked Benedictine as Maggie Hair (ranked No. 18 in points per game 3.250) and Bethany Smith (ranked No. 8 in goals and points per game) each posted goals. The Ravens added another goal in the form of a penalty kick from Bridget Brotherton to round out the scoring on the day.
The Spartans will start conference play Wednesday, Sept. 17 as the team will welcome Hannibal-LaGrange to town. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. at CBC Field
