GAME PREVIEW: MBU FOOTBALL @ LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE

THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play its fifth football game in the inaugural 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 against Lindenwood University-Belleville in Belleville, Ill. at 1:30 p.m. This will be the fourth game of the season for the Lynx and fifth for the Spartans. Brad Cygan and Bo Bunton, the road voices of Missouri Baptist Football, will be on the call for MBU.  

 

MAKING HISTORY: Missouri Baptist Football made history on Aug. 28, 2014 at NCAA Division I FCS opponent Southeast Missouri State in the team's first game in team history. MBU dropped that game 77-0 in Cape Girardeau in front of a crowd of over 7,000. Saturday's game will be the fifth game in the career of head coach Jason Burianek. MBU is still looking to post its first win of the season after recording its its first two-touchdown performance and most points in a game last week against the No. 20 William Penn Statesmen. Missouri Baptist, as a whole, is celebrating its 50-year anniversary in 2014.

LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE: The Lynx are in the same boat as the Spartans as they are also searching for their first win of the year after losses to two ranked NAIA opponents in No. 8 Georgetown and No. 12 St. Francis (Ill.).

Leading the passing attack this season is freshman Austin Rickhoff. The Breese Central graduate is averaging 145 yards of passing per game after sitting last season in his redshirt season. Rickhoff had over 2,000 yards of passing in his senior season in 2012 with 21 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

FOR THE RECORD: Missouri Baptist and LU-Belleville have both played two ranked NAIA opponents this season. Both teams will enter the Mid-States Football Association Mideast Division in 2015. The Lynx have never won more than four games in any of their first two seasons.

Missouri Baptist gave-up over 450 yards on the ground to then No. 20 William Penn's big ground attack. So far on the season, Missouri Baptist has given-up 1,473 yards of rushing.
