HUDSON HOUNDS STLCOP WITH FIVE THREE POINTERS IN 86-60 WIN

ST. LOUIS – [Box Score] After missing the first 13 games due to an injury, junior guard Cody Hudson lit up the scoreboard to pace the Missouri Baptist men's basketball team to a 86-60 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Missouri Baptist (3-11, 2-5 AMC) shot a season-high .531 in the contest after making 34-of-64 from the floor. The Spartans made 8-of-22 from deep range and 10-of-18 from the charity stripe.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy (1-6, 0-6 AMC) was held to just a .338 field goal percentage and a .250 three-point shooting percentage.

The two teams tied the rebounding battle at 42 boards each, but the Eutectics pulled down 14 offensive rebounds, compared to MBU's seven. The Spartans dished a season-high 20 assists over the 40 minutes of play.

Junior guard Cody Hudson went off for Missouri Baptist. He sank a career-high 19 points on a career-high 5-of-11 from three-point territory. It was his first game of the season after missing 13 games due to an injury.

Junior guard Stephen Buckner posted his first double-double of the season. He recorded a career-high 11 assists, and added 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the field. The 5-10 Carrollton, Texas native added a career-tying six rebounds.

Sophomore Chris Buzzell led the Spartans with 22 points. The 2013-14 AMC Freshman of the Year sank 10-of-13 from the floor, and added six rebounds.

Junior forward James King posted career-highs in rebounds with 13 and blocks with three. He added two steals, four points, and one assist.

All ten players scored in the game for Missouri Baptist.

The Spartans never trailed in the contest, but the Eutectics stayed within 10 points of the lead for the majority of the first half.

Junior guard Tywan Brooks splashed a 3-ball with 5:05 left in the half to give the Spartans a 28-16 lead, a lead that would stay in double digits the remainder of the game. Hudson drained a three on the next possession to extend the lead to 31-16.

Brooks gave the Spartans the largest lead of the half with his second three pointer of the half, which sent Missouri Baptist into the halftime break with a 38-22 lead.

The Spartans held the Eutectics to a dismal .192 shooting percentage in the half. Hudson led all scorers with 12 points, which sparked MBU to a .455 shooting percentage.

In the second half, the lead swelled to 22 points when Hudson drained his fifth three-pointer of the game to give MBU a 61-39 lead with 9:01 left in the game.

The largest lead of the game came with 3:46 left when Buzzell hit a reverse layup to give the Spartans a 77-49 advantage. James King set the play up with a physical rebound on the defensive glass, and Stephen Buckner found Buzzell after sprinting down the floor.

Sophomore Jahmari capped the scoring off with a one-handed dunk with 18 seconds left in the game to give the Spartans an 86-60 victory.

Missouri Baptist shot .613 in the half, making 19-of-31 from the floor.

The Spartans will take its two-game winning streak into Thursday night's matchup at Park University.
