ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist Spartans surrendered an early first-half goal and couldn't find a way to comeback Wednesday night in their 2-0 loss to the Lindewood-Belleville Lynx.
Oriol Lopez scored both of the Lindenwood-Belleville (6-5, 3-3) goals. His first came in the 3rd minute off a pass from Guillermo Chinchilla. Lopez then gave the Lynx some added insurance with another goal in the 84th minute.
The Spartans (2-8, 0-4) hung tough and pressured Lindenwood-Belleville throughout the game, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Josh Phillips just missed an early goal-scoring chance in the first half and Benjamin Randolph came close to scoring in the 86th minute when his shot nicked off the post.
Spartan keeper Brenden Carnahan faced 19 shots and made six saves in the match. Overall, the Lynx outshot the Spartans 19-6. Six different Spartans recorded a shot.
Missouri Baptist continues its four-game roadtrip Saturday against Central Baptist. The match begins at 12:00 p.m.
