SPARTAN WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO 0-2

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCOREMissouri Baptist fell behind by a goal late in the first half on Saturday evening against Grace College and never recovered in a 5-0 loss on the road

Missouri Baptist (0-2) struggled to get its offense going for the second consecutive match on a hot day in Bourbonnais, Ill., at the Grace College Crusaders found their way to the back of the net twice in the second half.

The Crusaders began the scoring in the 41st minute as Carianne Sobey picked-up her second goal on the year to make it 1-0.

Grace struck again twice in a batter of eight minutes as the second-half got underway. Darcy Johnston (1) and Meredith Hollar (3) notched insurance goals for the Crusaders and put the game away early in the final 45 minutes of play.

Missouri Baptist recorded two shots on goal in each half and was outshot 29-5 on the day. Alexis Ferren led the team off the bench with two shots on goal.

The Spartans will resume their 2015 schedule on Wednesday as the team will welcome Culver-Stockton College to St. Louis. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
