ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist Women's Wrestling picked up one win at the NWCA National Duals over the weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind. in three matches.
The Spartans defeated Waldorf College 21-17, while falling to Campbellsville University and Lindenwood. Marki Simmons led the way against Waldorf, winning by technical fall 12-1 over her opponent Bailey McLaughlin in the 136-pound class. The win from Simmons, mixed with three wins via forfeit helped Missouri Baptist edge Waldorf by four points.
No. 5 Campbellsville University dominated the Spartans 44-0 in the team's first match of the tournament. Sarah Bollinger nearly got MBU on the board, but lost a close 2-0 decision in her bout.
Lindenwood handed the Spartans a 32-11 loss in the team's final match. Montana Drum and Erika Mihalca rattled off back-to-back wins early on in the match, but Lindenwood won the final five bouts to take the win. Drum won by fall in 2:55 against her opponent and Mihalca did the same in 2:27.
The ladies return to the mat on January 20th against Lyon College.
