SEVEN PLAYERS SCORE IN 8-0 ROUT OF EUTECTICS

Box Score

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist posted four goals in each half Saturday night to dominate St. Louis College of Pharmacy in an 8-0 win.

The Spartans (5-3-3, 2-2) evened their record in conference play with the victory. An MBU record seven different Spartans scored, breaking the mark (six) the team set last season.

"Today was another total team effort," head coach Jake Alvernia said. "All the compliments today for both our players and STLCOP. The Eutectics never quit the entire game."

Despite a valiant effort from the home team, MBU controlled possession throughout and only allowed the Eutectics to get off one shot at goal. The road team on the other hand, fired 40 shots toward the net, led by Erick Ocampo. The senior captain registered a team-high six shots and started the scoring in the 19thminute to put the Spartans ahead 1-0.

The team continued to test the STLCOP backline and goalkeeper, before bunching together three goals later in the half. Gerardo Espinoza continued his hot play with a goal in the 28th minute. The junior has now scored in four consecutive games.

Aris Nukic then got in on the fun with two goals in a minute span. He knocked in a penalty kick after a foul in the box in the 32nd minute and used that confidence boost to score 42 seconds later. Ben Boyd fed the senior for his third goal of the season to put the Spartans ahead 4-0.

Missouri Baptist continued to spread the ball around in the second half. Four different players found the back of the net, as the Spartans continued their dominance. Eutectic goalie Thomas Jamieson made several tough saves, 17 in total, but his offense never quite backed up his performance.

Selmir Ademovic knocked one past Jamieson in the 59th minute for the team's fifth goal of the game. The senior then set up sophomore Josh Phillips for another tally in the 61st minute to help MBU take a 6-0 lead. Thales Teixeira also earned an assist on the goal from Phillips.

MBU tacked on two additional goals in the final minutes to put their stamp on the game. Freshman Kyle Setchfield set up both goals, first finding Justin Schuttenberg open for his second goal of the season in the 85th minute. Rafael Rangel also scored to put the cherry on top two minutes later on a goal also assisted by Setchfield.

Goalie Braedan Passalis picked up the shutout in the 8-0 win. The team now has a week off before taking on Williams Baptist from CBC Field. The game is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
