Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

HOT BEARCAT SHOOTING QUIETS SPARTANS ON ROAD

ST. LOUIS. – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Basketball's shooting woes continued in the final game before the Thanksgiving break. Missouri Baptist shot just 27 percent in Tuesday's NCAA Division II battle against the Southwest Baptist (Mo.) Bearcats in a 81-47 loss in Bolivar, Mo.

Missouri Baptist (2-3, 1-0 AMC) dug itself a sizeable hole in the first quarter as the Bearcats went to work. Southwest Baptist led by just one, 5-4, before amassing a 19-2 run in a span of just over five minutes. This run secured the lead, which put the game fully in control of the home team.

The Spartans held firm with the team from Bolivar, Mo., throughout the remainder of the quarter, but the damage had already been sustained. In the end, the Spartans out-rebounded the Bearcats 15-11 on the offensive glass, but lost the battle on the defensive end as Southwest Baptist held the advantage in a 3-1 ratio.

In the game, the Bearcats put together an offensive display. The home team recorded a 58.3 shooting percentage from the floor.

Chanel Brown led the Spartans with 13 points, which tied a career high she set earlier in 2016 on November 5 against Morthland. Shay Robinson followed with nine.

Even with the lopsided score, Missouri Baptist was even with the Bearcats with possessions (70) and led the turnover battle as the Spartans forced 18 from their opponents.

Missouri Baptist will enjoy a few days of rest over the holiday before going back to work on Saturday, November 26 with a tough exhibition contest against NCAA Division II opponent, Kentucky Wesleyan. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in Owensboro, Ky.
