SPARTANS NOTCH PROGRAMS LONGEST WIN STREAK WITH WIN OVER TROJANS

ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team notched the longest win streak in recorded program history after a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-13) sweep of Hannibal LaGrange (Mo.) on Tuesday.

The Spartans (12-0, 2-0) were off to a strong start in set one as they notched their highest hitting percentage of the match at 0.471 and held the Trojans to a hitting percentage under 0.100.

MBU continued on the attack in set two as the team recorded its highest total number of kills in the match at 16 and posted a hitting percentage that was only 0.038 difference from set one. HLGU tried to make a comeback in the set as the Trojans recorded their highest attack percentage of 0.259.

Missouri Baptist finished the match in set three and held Hannibal to a negative hitting percentage.

Mico Janicijevic led the offense with 13 kills on the night.

Kyle Foley posted 34 total assists on the night for an impressive average of 11.3 assists per set.

With the win, the Spartans notched the longest win streak in recorded program history with wins that date back to the 2015 season. The 19 game win streak is a compilation of the seven game win streak at the end of the 2015 season that saw MBU to its first national title and the other 12 wins are the result of the Spartans current undefeated season.

The previous win streak of 18 wins was recorded in the 2010 season. The 2010 roster began its run in the second half of the season taking wins over teams such as Lindenwood (Mo.), Graceland (Iowa), and Park (Mo.). The streak was ended at 18 in pool play at the national tournament to California Baptist the 2010 reigning champion and currently the only team to notch consecutive titles.

Missouri Baptist will look to continue its undefeated streak in Iowa at the end of this week. The team is set to play against Morningside (Iowa), Briar Cliff (Iowa) and Dordt (Iowa).
