ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University Men's Tennis showed their skills against conference competitor Lindenwood University - Belleville (Ill.). For the first time in recorded history, Missouri Baptist Men's Tennis receives NAIA Top 25 votes.
The Lions have always been strong competition for the Spartans, but hard work paid off on Tuesday with a 6-3 win.
The Spartans commanded play in doubles, as they grabbed wins at No. 2 and 3. The teams of James Tobin/Ricardo Martin (No. 2) and Sean Nanney/Dylan Walker (No. 3) both notched wins 8-1, 9-8 respectively.
Senior Tanner Morris joined Martin, Nanney and Tobin with singles victories.
Missouri Baptist is now 3-0 in conference play. For the first time in recorded history, Men's Tennis receives NAIA Top 25 votes.
"Our level of play today was no where near where it should be, so pulling out a 6-3 win is a big relief," said Head Coach Cole Stevenson. Our doubles/volleys/net play is usually much stronger and we'll address that this week, but it's exciting to be 3-0 in conference though."
The Spartans host Baker University (Kan.) on April 16. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
