GAME PREVIEW: MBU VS. ST. FRANCIS (ILL.)

Missouri Baptist (0-2) vs. RV Saint Francis (Ill.) (0-2)

THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play the second game of its 2016 home  schedule on Saturday, September 17 at 3:00pm when they face the St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints.

SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS: After a week in which the Spartans racked-up 37 points (30 from the offense), the team saw its first real setback of 2016 as five turnovers told the story for the Spartans against the Siena Heights (Mich.) Saints.

Missouri Baptist will go back to the drawing board on Saturday against the Fighting Saints, and will look for another strong defensive performance out of its secondary. Eddie Calderon led the team with nine total tackles (eight solo) a week ago while Kevin Gude matched that total.

SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS: Two consecutive losses for the team from Chicago are not the norm, but it has squarely put the pressure on the No. 14-ranked team in the nation. A tough conference loss to Saint Xavier was how the season started for the Fighting Saints. Then, just a week ago, the team was downed by a strong NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Platteville.

Starting under center is a last name that Chicago natives are familiar with, along with the rest of the NFL as Don Butkus will call the plays. His great uncle is NFL Hall of Famer Dick Butkus.

Butkus has led the offense thus far and has a season passer rating of 119.51. So far, he has 565 passing yards in a pass-heavy offense with four touchdowns and just two interceptions.

FOR THE RECORD: MBU is looking for its second win in team history... The team returns its first All-Conference selection in team history in Tyler Hach... Billy Ritchey became the first 300-yard passer in team history in the season opener against Bethel... The Spartans will face a second year team in Lyon College (Ark.) in the final game of the season at home. The Scots were winless in 2015
