Box Score ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE]- Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball played at home for the first time in three weeks on Friday night and came away with a four-set victory over Lyon College (12-25, 14-25, 25-22, 14-25).
The Spartans were a team on a mission in the first two sets, cruising by with lopsided victories. MBU never trailed in the opening set and 8-5 was the closest the Scots could get. The second stanza was tighter early but a timely kill from Megan Huffman turned the momentum for the good guys. The Spartans ran away with it from there, capped off by two lethal kills from freshman Kelly Wilson. MBU used a 15-4 run to finish off the set.
The third set proved to be a bit of challenge for Missouri Baptist. Head Coach Chris Nichols utilized a full bench and the Scots did not go away quietly. The frame went back and forth before an ace by Lyon's Katerina Frickleton forced a fourth set.
The fourth and final frame went the way of the first two, with the Spartans pulling away at the midpoint in dominant fashion. Natalie Hecht was in the middle of all the action. The freshman posted two aces and three assists in the final set.
For the match, Mallory Dillon led the way in the kills department with 14. Cate Cigarini and Kelly Wilson posted eight apiece. Cigarini was in control on the defensive side with a team-high four block assists.
