MISSOURI BAPTIST (0-4) vs. TAYLOR (2-3)
THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play the fifth game of its 2016 schedule on Saturday, October 1 at 12:00pm when they face the Taylor University Trojans.
STEPS IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION: Missouri Baptist struggled to put points on the board against the No. 1 team in the nation last week, but the scores they did record were both in the first half against one of the top defenses in the nation. The Spartans tied the game early and cut the deficit to 14-10 in the second quarter as the offense began to find holes in the big Marian defense..
KING RECEIVER: Isaiah King has become the main offensive threat for the Spartans in his freshman season. He now has 411 yards receiving in 2016. More than just a deep threat, the former Belleville East Lancer has posted a 50+ yard reception in each of the four games this season and is averaging over 100 yards per game.
SCOUTING TAYLOR: The Trojans are coming off a big win over Cross-Divisional opponent Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) last week and will be looking to build momentum with a road game looming against Marian (Ind.) on Oct. 8.
Taylor has put together a solid ground game in 2016 led by TIm Barrett. The 5-11 senior out of Muncie, Ind., is averaging 79 yards per game on the ground.
Sophomore signal-caller Everett Pollard has led the passing attack in 2016. The Atlanta native is averaging 201 yards per game and has only been intercepted twice this season.
FOR THE RECORD: MBU is looking for its second win in team history... The team returns its first All-Conference selection in team history in Tyler Hach... Billy Ritchey became the first 300-yard passer in team history in the season opener against Bethel... Freshman receiver Isaiah King now has at least a 50-yard reception in every game in 2016.
