ST. LOUIS – [RESULTS] Missouri Baptist Women's Wrestling competed for the first time in 2017 at the NWCA National Duals in Fort Wayne. MBU went 1-2 in the tournament with a victory over Adrian College.
The win over Adrian was sandwiched in between a pair of losses to Jamestown and Life University. Against Jamestown, MBU fell 33-14. JU won the first three weights via forfeit and the Spartans never could recover. Cheyenne Youngblood pinned her opponent in 4:04 for points and Angel Ochoa also won via a 4-2 decision. Jamestown earned 7th place overall.
MBU rebounded from the loss with a 24-9 win over Adrian. Youngblood picked up a win again, this time by tech fall 16-6. Montana Drum also dominated with a 10-0 tech fall victory and Ko'a Moe added the final points for MBU when she pinned her opponent in just 1:28. The Spartans also won two duals via forfeits.
Life University, the eventual 8th place finisher, ended the Spartans tournament run. They defeated the navy and white 35-12. MBU forfeited the first three weights and tried to claw its way out of the deficit. Tam Tillman delivered a win (10-0 tech fall), as did Youngblood once again, this time pinning her opponent in 1:15. However, after the victory at 136, Life won the final four bouts to seal the win.
The Spartans will next compete on January 17th at Lindenwood-Belleville.
