SPARTANS KNOCK OFF STLCOP TO KEEP POSTSEASON HOPES ALIVE

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer made it two in a row with a 3-0 shutout over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Wednesday afternoon.

Gabriele Zennaro opened the scoring in the 22nd minute for MBU. The freshman took a through pass from Jake Smith and chipped it over the head of the STLCOP keeper. Zennaro added a second goal 20 minutes later to double the Spartan lead. This time, he took a feed from Ben Boyd and made no mistake for his eighth goal of the year.

After the break, the Eutectic defense stiffened up and held the Spartans at bay for the most part. Gerardo Espinoza would eventually breakthrough in the 71st minute. The senior delivered a perfectly placed free kick from the top of the STLCOP penalty area. It was Espinoza's third of the year and it was all the Spartans needed for the victory.

The Spartans registered an even 20 shots on goal in the match while STLCOP could only manage one on MBU keeper Sam Whittington.

Missouri Baptist is now 7-9 overall and 5-5 in the AMC. The regular season finale is Saturday against Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
