SPARTAN OFFENSE COMES ALIVE IN WIN OVER LYNX

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – If the rain didn't put a damper on homecoming for Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.), the Spartans surely did. Missouri Baptist posted 413 yards of offense and six touchdowns in a 50-16 rout of the Lynx on Saturday.

Missouri Baptist (2-4, 1-1 MSFA) looked in prime form from the outset as they scored on their first play from scrimmage and never looked back. It was a wet day for both teams as storms set-in during the second quarter and continued through much of the third. The moisture caused issues for the long snappers as both sides recorded botched snaps on punt attempts, but in the end, Missouri Baptist capitalized on mistakes throughout.

Chase Brown became the first Missouri Baptist player in history to record a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown in a game. The sophomore got in on some of the play-calling fun as he caught a Devin Griffin pass and rumbled his way into the end zone. Brown finished the day with 154 yards and a touchdown.

Gunnar Griffin also saw extended time on Saturday posted two touchdown passes of his own. Perhaps the nicest of these came on a 72-yard strike to D'Ante Cox.

Cox had a big game for the Spartans on Saturday. The freshman was the deep threat for Missouri Baptist on Saturday with three receptions for 170 yards.

Austin Schultz also came up big for Missouri Baptist in the game. The senior capitalized on his opportunity to start and netted 81 yards on the ground with a touchdown.

Next up for Missouri Baptist will be the first of the final two consecutive home games at CBC. The Spartans will host No. 20-ranked Concordia (Mich.) next Saturday, October 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
