SPARTANS ADVANCE TO SEMIFINAL MATCH

ST. LOUIS--[BOX SCORE] (13) Missouri Baptist took on the (12) College of Idaho Yotes in the NAIA National Championship Tournament Quarterfinals. In a thrilling five-set match, the Spartans pushed past their opponent, once again. They will advance to the Semifinal match for the third time in history.

Adrenaline ran high as the top teams battled it out for a spot in the Final Four. It truly was a neck and neck match with a total of 31 ties. The Spartans took sets one and two, while the Lady Yotes claimed the second and fourth sets. This match followed trend, as MBU would battle it out in another intense tie-breaker.

Missouri Baptist took an early lead in the fifth set thanks to Rachel Luebbers consistent serves, and four consecutive kills from Cate Cigarini. Idaho eventually regained possession, nearly tying the match at 8-7 before the Spartans got the ball back. It was from there that MBU maintained the lead, and went on to take the match, 15-12. This victory advanced the Spartans to the Semifinals where they will face (1) Lindsey Wilson.

Marion Couraud led the match in kills, once again, with a total of 19. Cigarini and Tina Medanovicfollowed close behind with 17 and 15, respectively.

Luebbers made her way back on the court in the libero position. The junior finished the match with 18 total digs.

MoBap finds themselves in familiar territory, as they were knocked out by the Blue Raiders in the Round of 16 last season. The squad looks to give Lindsey Wilson their first loss of the season, and advance to the National Championship Final for the second time in team history.

The Semifinal match begins at the Tyson Events Center on Saturday, December 2 at 11 am.
