On a night where chances for either team were few and far between, the Spartans did what they had to do to grind out a win. They managed just five shots on goal but held Culver to two on the other end, neither of which troubled MBU goalkeeper Alex Lair.
The Spartans did have a golden opportunity to extend their lead in the 34th minute. After an MBU player was brought down in the box, Haylee Eastridge ricocheted the PK off the left post.
Eastridge would eventually get her redemption. 15 minutes into the second half, the senior took a feed from Willhite and slotted home to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead and the eventual victory.
MBU improves to 2-0 on the season while Culver-Stockton drops to 0-1. The Spartans will now head to Atchison, Kan. to take on No. 4 Benedictine on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm. Live stream and live stats can be found here.
