SPARTANS HOLD OFF HORNETS; MOVE OVER .500

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Basketball took a 14-point lead into the fourth quarter and held off a Harris-Stowe comeback attempt to earn their 10th win of the season on Saturday afternoon.

After a tight opening quarter, the Spartan defense locked the Hornets down in the second frame. The visitors managed just four points in the final six minutes before halftime.

MBU took an eight point lead into the locker room and kept the pressure on after the break, pushing the lead to 51-37. The advantage was 17 in the fourth quarter when Harris-Stowe began a late run. They trimmed the deficit as low as five but the Spartans made their free throws and denied the comeback attempt. The final was 67-61.

Chanel Brown led the way for the Spartans with 20 points. The senior also pulled down seven rebounds and posted three steals. Briya Wilborn added 13 points to go along with six rebounds. She tied Brown in the steals column with three of her own.

The win earned MBU a season-split with the Hornets. The navy and white improve to 10-9 overall and 8-7 in the AMC.
