LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling team picked up its first dual win of the season defeating No. 19-ranked University of Saint Mary by a score of 42-6.

It was a rather quick meet for the Spartan women as only one weight class actually wrestled on Thursday evening at the Ryan Sports Center. Missouri Baptist freshman
Brigitte Mihalca and USM's Teya Villalpando took to the mat at 123 pounds. Mihalca came out victorious pinning Villalpando to even the team score at 6-all.

With the win, the Missouri Baptist women's wrestling program improves to 1-1 overall in dual matches. The next time out on the mat for MBU will be Jan. 10 in Ottawa, Kan. for a triangular between the Spartans, top-ranked Wayland Baptist University and ninth-ranked Ottawa University (Kan.). The women's meet is scheduled for 5 p.m.
