Young Claims First Heart Conference Award in Program History

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- De'yton Young becomes the first wrestler at Missouri Baptist University to claim Heart of America Athletic Conference women's wrestler of the week, announced by the conference on Monday.

Young's award comes after an impressive tournament run at the Avila University Women's Eagle Open this weekend. Young's run included a win over a returning national champion from Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) and a fall over a returning all-American from the host school, Avila University (Mo.).

This nod is the first of Young's career and the first time this season that a Spartan has won this award in their new conference.

The Spartans leave for Christmas break and return next semester, starting the second half of their season with a conference dual against No. 16 Central Methodist (Mo.) in Fayette, Mo., on Jan. 8, 2026, with wrestling starting at 6 p.m.
