SPARTANS GO CRAZY IN SENIOR NIGHT VICTORY

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Basketball overwhelmed Hannibal-LaGrange in a 91-26 Senior Night rout on Thursday.

The Spartans were in control from the start in this one. After falling behind 18-7 in the opening quarter, Hannibal briefly brought the deficit under 10. A layup from Chantelle Smith late in the first quarter, however, would be the beginning of the end for the visitors.

MBU held Hannibal to just a single field goal in the second and third quarter combined-- over 25 minutes of game time. The Spartans also forced 27 turnovers and came away with a season-high 20 steals. After winning the third quarter 23-0, MBU would also take the fourth 22-10.

Six Spartans reached double figures as the navy and white tied a season-high in points scored. The 26 points given up was also the second fewest total allowed by any team in the AMC this season.

Eight seniors were recognized in the pregame ceremony and all eight went on to flood the stat sheet. Briya Wilborn led the way with 17 points and seven assists. Chantelle Smith was close behind with 16 points while Chanel Brown posted 13.

Jessica Moore went for a career-high 12 points. Shaylen Robinson and Amanda Rowden each had 11. Rowden and Smith tied for the team-lead in rebounds with 11, each registering double-doubles in the process. Smith put a bow on a career night with four steals and five assists as well. She tied for the team-lead in steals with fellow senior Jordann Bruenton.

The Spartans (14-13 overall, 12-11 AMC) will complete regular season play on Saturday at first-place Columbia College. Tipoff at the Southwell Complex is scheduled for 1 pm. MBU will be the six-seed in the AMC Quarterfinals next Thursday. They will play either Lyon College or Lindenwood-Belleville at 7 pm.
