ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Basketball concluded regular season play against AMC No. 1 and NAIA No. 8 Columbia College on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans endured a difficult day as the Cougars won by a final score of 88-49.
The Spartans kept it close for the majority of the first half. It was 17-13 Columbia after one before the Cougar offense went off in the second quarter. The home side made 12 of 16 field goal attempts in the second frame to break the game open. They carried a 46-26 advantage into halftime.
MBU was unable to cut into the deficit in the second half. The Spartans shot just 28% from the field in the final two quarters. The Cougars, meanwhile, came back to earth slightly (39% from the field in the second half) but still managed to increase the lead with a 22 point third quarter and a 20 point fourth.
Missouri Baptist finishes the regular season with a record of 14-14 overall and 12-12 in the AMC. The Spartans will be the six-seed in the upcoming AMC Tournament. They will travel to Lyon College next Thursday, March 1, for a 7 pm tipoff in the Quarterfinals.
