ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Women's Lacrosse team had their first game at home, taking on Clarke University at Westminster Christian Academy, down the highway. The Spartans came out on top, claiming their first victory of the 2018 season.
Things quickly started off in MoBap's favor, as
Laura Ebers put one in the net less than a minute into the half. She went on to score a couple more before the second.
Grace Adams,
Katie Pilla,
Ashley Avery and
McKenna Fisher squeezed their way onto the scoreboard, as well. However, Clarke managed to keep up and entered halftime leading by one goal.
The Spartans were determined to take their first victory of the season, as they entered the second half with adrenaline running high. MBU quickly put up five goals before Clarke could answer back with a few of their own. However, it was to no avail. The Spartan offense proved to be too much for the Crusaders, as they took the win, 17-12.
Ashley Avery led the match in the ground balls category with a total of six, while senior
McKenna Fisher finished up with 10 successful ball controls. Fisher also put in four goals.
Ebers led in the goals category, putting up nine on 11 shots. She also tacked on two assists.
The Spartans head to Michigan on Monday, March 12 to take on the Saints of Aquinas College. Game time is set for 1 pm.
