ST. LOUIS—[BOX GAME ONE] [BOX GAME TWO] MBU Softball defeated Marywood University (Pa.) 14-3 on Tuesday afternoon before seeing their four-game winning streak ended in a 2-0 loss to Keiser University (Fla.) later in the day.
The Spartans got off to another quick start against the Pacers of Marywood. Meagan Elder brought Ally Gischer in in the first inning with an RBI double. Jordan Corby brought two home in the second with a double of her own.
MBU added two in the third and three more in fourth before ending it with a crooked number in the fifth. Baleigh Koester launched a three-run homer to bring in Madison Bond and Jordan Corby. After a single from Meagan Elder and a double from Meghan Mollet, Caitlin McNiff continued her torrid hitting with another three-run shot. That made the score 14-1 Spartans. Marywood tagged Koester for three in the bottom half but it wasn't enough to extend the game as the 10-run after five rule was activated.
The offense could not find the same magic in game two against Keiser. Seahawks starter Autumn Green shut down MBU, allowing just four hits and no runs. Keiser scored one in the first and one in the sixth on Spartan starter Delissa Dennison. The sophomore took a hard luck loss despite conceding just two runs and six hits.
Missouri Baptist (7-6) will continue action in Cocoa Beach, Fla. on Wednesday with games against Iowa Wesleyan and Gallaudet University (DC). First pitch is at 10 am CST.
