ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The No. 7 ranked Men's Lacrosse team hosted the (RV) Spires of Saint Mary on Friday. After a tough second quarter, the Spartans could not come up with the comeback. The Spires proved to be too much for MBU as they took the win, 10-7.
The first quarter of the match looked promising for the Spartans, as
Devin Mayer quickly put up a goal.
Sean Hess and
Jaxon Haas followed suit, allowing the Spartans to start things off with a two-point lead.
The Spires gained momentum heading into the second, as they fired five shots past
Robert Ates, while MBU remained scoreless. The Spartans headed into halftime facing a two-point deficit.
Things were looking up for MoBap in the third period as they nearly tied things up (7-6). Mayer managed to put up one more goal in the fourth, however, the Spartans could not find their groove. The Spires pushed past MBU, taking the win at Spartan Field.
Senior
Devin Mayer led MBU in goals with a total of three.
Austin Dahl followed close behind with two goals, and tacked on seven ground balls, leading the match.
Jon Chaffee finished the day with 11 successful face-offs, and goalie
Robert Ates clocked out at 12 saves.
The Spartans are back at home on Monday, April 2. They will host the No. 1 ranked Reinhardt Eagles at 1 pm.
