ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Belleville, Illinois to take on the Lindenwood Lynx for the second time this season. MBU managed to get back on track after last week's loss with another win over LU-Belleville. With this win, the Spartans improve to a season record of 7-6.
It was a scoreless first ten minutes of the match. The Spartans finally managed to gain possession, allowing
Grace Adams to start off the scoring, putting one on the board for MBU. Belleville quickly responded, tying things up, then taking the lead. However, the Spartans evened things out, once again, as they began to pull away from the Lynx. MoBap entered halftime with a two-point lead.
Lindenwood's Sharyah Cotton scored just seconds into the second half, putting the Lynx at just a one-point deficit. MBU fired back with five consecutive goals in less than five minutes, while the Lynx remained scoreless (10-4). With more than 20 minutes remaining, the Lynx tried for another comeback, but could not produce the necessary plays to catch the Spartans. MBU rolled through to a 14-9 victory.
Laura Ebers led the match with a total of five goals, and one assist. Senior
McKenna Fisher and freshman
Audrey Frost each finished with three goals, while
Grace Adams finished with two.
Katie Pilla rounded out the scoring for the Spartans with one goal, as well as a team-leading four ground balls.
Kaitlin Mills finished the match with 19 saves.
The Spartans close out the 2018 season on Saturday, April 21. They'll take on Washington University (Mo.) in the 2 o'clock senior day match.
