BOX GAME 2] MBU Softball rebounded from two losses on Monday with a sweep of Harris-Stowe at home on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans jumped out to big leads early in both games in route to 8-1 and 8-0 victories.

Game one started with a five-run first for the home side. An RBI single from
Caitlin McNiff and a two-RBI double from
Baleigh Koester accounted for three of the runs.

After another run in the second, Koester knocked in her third RBI of the day with a single in the third. The freshman was also dominant in the pitcher's circle, holding Harris-Stowe to one hit and one run in five innings of work.
Ally Dunaway came on in relief to close down the final two innings.

Game two started similarly with an RBI single from
Jordan Corby in the first inning. The Hornets made three errors in the third inning which contributed to three more Spartan runs.

Missouri Baptist would really break it open in the fourth. With one out,
Sarah Langdon singled and then scored on a double from
Ally Gischer. Later in the inning, after another error by Harris-Stowe,
Meagan Elder delivered a two-RBI single that made it 8-0.

Delissa Dennison came on to pitch the fifth frame and, though Hornets managed a couple of hits, they stranded the bases loaded to end the game on the eight after five rule.

Baleigh Koester once again earned the win and improved to 17-8 on the season. After striking out seven in the first game, she added four more to her AMC-leading total in game two. The freshman allowed just one hit and no runs. Â

The Spartans are now 28-13 overall and 12-6 in the AMC. They'll play Quincy University in non-conference action on Thursday at home. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
