ST. LOUIS—MBU Men's Track and Field finished fifth (92 points) in the AMC Conference Meet on Friday and Saturday in Greenville, Ill. Individually, three Spartans finished first in their respective events.
Â
Kyle Christopher led the way, contributing 23 points in the field events to the team total. The sophomore won the discus event with a total distance of 47.38m. That total was more than three meters better than the second place finisher and a mere .12 cm away from NAIA qualifying standard. Elsewhere, Christopher finished in fourth in both the shotput and the hammer throw and sixth in the javelin. The all-around performance earned Christopher the AMC's Outstanding Male Field Athlete Award.
Â
Tremaine Bobo was also in the running for that honor, having added 22 points to the team total. Bobo won the Long Jump by almost a full meter with a final distance of 7.47m. That was enough to meet the NAIA's 'B' qualifying standard for the National Championship. He also won the Triple Jump with a distance of 14.49m, again nearly a full meter better than his next closest competitor.
Â
Adam Vincent also met the NAIA's 'B' Qualifying standard when he finished first in the Pole Vault. Vincent bested six other competitors with a height of 4.60m.
Â
In the track events,
Gerald Moore took third of 19 in the 400m Dash (50.58 seconds) and
Elijah McNairy followed suit with a third place finish (out of 12) in the 400m Hurdles (57.41 seconds).
Â
The Spartans will be back in action net weekend in Dubuque, Iowa at the Loras College Meet.
