WOMEN’S SOCCER DENIED BY TRINITY CHRISTIAN

ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer fell to 0-2 on the season after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon in Palos Heights, Ill.

For the second consecutive match, the Spartans were forced to play from behind early on. The Trolls' Jessica Owen posted her first of the goal of the day in the seventh minute. Neither team was able to mount much offense beyond that, however, and the score remained 1-0 heading into halftime.

Trinity Christian would turn up the heat in the second half. The Trolls attempted 13 shots on MBU goalkeeper Jemica Artillaga. The Australian made five saves and kept the Spartans in the game. Owen finally beat Artillaga for her second of the game in the 80th minute.

Missouri Baptist put just two shots on target in the match as the Trolls held on for the shutout. At the other end, Artillaga finished the match with nine total saves for the Spartans.

MBU now continues on to the second leg of a four-game road trip. They visit St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.
