ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer suffered its first defeat of 2018 on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans fell to Ave Maria (Fla.) 3-0 in a neutral site match in Lakeland, Fla.
The Gyrenes jumped on MBU right out of the gate, scoring just 17 seconds into the match. They would add two more in the opening half- one in the 19
th minute and another in the 27
th minute.
The Spartans did go on to outshoot Ave Maria. They put six shots on goal to Ave Maria's four but could not find a breakthrough.
The loss drops MBU's record to 3-1 for the season. They'll have another tough test on Monday against Southeastern (Fla.). Kickoff is scheduled for 12 pm CST.
