Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Sam Dean

OFFENSE GOES CRAZY AS WOMEN’S SOCCER CRUISES TO FIRST WIN

COLUMBIA, MO. — After scoring just three goals in its first six games, the floodgates finally opened for MBU women's soccer on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans put 10 past Stephens College to earn their first AMC win of 2018.

Miranda Pratt opened the account just 39 seconds into the match. The freshman now has goals in three straight games. Jackie Hagan doubled the lead six minutes later. The junior defender found herself on the other end of a corner kick from Danielle Wilde and slotted home for her first marker of the year.

The pace slowed after Hagan's goal and the Spartans held the same 2-0 lead into halftime. After the break, however, the goals came fast and often. Kaylyn Bigley's first career goal made it 3-0 with another assist coming from Wilde as well as Allie Heinz. Riley Janvrin and Cassandra Willhite followed with two goals apiece, all with an eight minute stretch, for a 7-0 advantage.

Nicole Talley got on the board for the first time in her MBU career in the 68th minute. Freshmen Kenzie Bunch and Alexis Ramey followed suit in 80th and 82nd minutes, respectively, to put the navy and white in double digits.

The Spartans finished with 47 total shot attempts with 26 on goal. Riley Janvrin and Kaylyn Bigley tied for the team lead with four on target.

Missouri Baptist is now 1-4-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the AMC. The Spartans will resume AMC play on Tuesday when they welcome Williams Baptist University to Spartan Field.
