ST. LOUIS—The Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball team continued their winning ways, as they took their third consecutive sweep. After the win over Freed-Hardeman, the Spartans remain undefeated in the American Midwest Conference.
The Lions hung tough with the Spartans in set one, trading possession back and forth. The squads eventually found themselves just a point apart (22-21), but kills from
Maggie Sorensen and
Mallory Moran sealed the deal for MBU. They claimed the first set, 25-21.
Sets two and three were another story, as the Spartans quickly rolled to the lead in both. Missouri Baptist's front line proved to be too much for FHU, as the hitters dished out a total of 42 kills.
Setter
Nicole Bott clocked out with 28 assists, with
Caterina Cigarini leading the match in kills (12 total, 0.667 hitting percentage). Outside hitter
Mallory Moran followed closely behind, finishing with nine.
Missouri Baptist continues conference play on Friday, September 21. They will head to Arkansas to take on the Eagles of Williams Baptist at 5 p.m.
