WOMEN’S SOCCER DISPATCHES CBC FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer earned its third straight victory on Friday afternoon with a 6-0 rout of Central Baptist College (Ark.).  The Spartans improved to 3-0-1 in conference play and are now unbeaten in their last five matches overall.

After scoring 19 goals in the previous two games, it took slightly longer for the floodgates to open for Missouri Baptist on Friday at Spartan Field. The first third of the match saw limited chances with just two shots on target for the Spartans.

The breakthrough moment would finally arrive in the 37th minute. Danielle Wilde sent a cross into the box to Alexis Ramey. Ramey played it off to Riley Janvrin who ripped a shot past Mustangs' keeper Sara Calzada. The junior's fourth goal of the year was the only marker of the first half.

The goal scoring would pick up after the halftime break. Just 27 seconds after the restart, Nicole Talley's cross slipped by Calzada and onto the foot of Ramey who finished it off for a 2-0 lead. Miranda Pratt then scored twice in less than five minutes to double the advantage to four. The freshman's seventh and eighth goals of the season once again moved her to within one of the AMC lead. Riley Janvrin and Allie Heinz provided the assists.

Ramey would add a second tally of the day in the 73rd minute before Casey Gutting finished off the scoring with just under 10 minutes left in regulation. The final shot count was 14-0 in favor of MBU.

Missouri Baptist remains unbeaten in AMC play and improved to 3-4-2 overall. Next on the schedule is an important meeting on September 26 with Harris-Stowe. Kickoff at Spartan Field is set for 3:30 pm.
