WOMEN'S WRESTLING TAKES DOWN NO. 18 LU-BELLEVILLE

RESULTS

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Just three matches were contested on Thursday between Missouri Baptist University women's wrestling and No. 18 Lindenwood University-Belleville, and that's all the 12th-ranked Spartans needed to secure a 26-17 victory over the Lynx.

In total, Missouri Baptist scored 20 of their 26 points via forfeited wins at the 123-poind (Brigitte Mihalca), 143-pound (Selina Medrano-Perez), 170-pound (Dymond Guilford) and 191-pound (Angel Ochoa) weight classes.

In the 130-pound bout, No. 16-ranked Amanda Martinez of LU-Belleville defeated Nadia Escamilla via technical fall, 10-0. The next match was tightly contested with No. 15 Fatima Avalos coming up just short against Lynx grappler Linette Ambriz, 6-5. In the final match that was wrestled, MBU's Brighton Hutton pinned 14th-ranked Maya Shimizu at the 2:53 mark to earn the Spartans six points in the team race.

Thursday's dual served as the last tune up for the Missouri Baptist women before heading to the WCWA National Championships in Atlanta, Ga. on Feb. 8-9.
