WOMEN’S SOCCER BLANKS STEPHENS FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer earned its fourth straight win with a 2-0 clean sheet against Stephens College on Saturday afternoon. MBU is now 5-2-1 in AMC play and only two points out of third place in the conference standings.

The Spartans used a fast start on Saturday to quickly crush any hopes the visiting Stars had of an upset. In the seventh minute, a cross from Allie Heinz found Madi Dunahue in the box. Dunahue sidestepped a defender and hit the top left corner of the goal with a perfectly placed strike. The freshman's third of the year made it 1-0.

Two minutes later, senior Riley Janvrin got on the board to double the lead. It was another cross from Heinz that created chaos in the penalty area for Stephens. After a deflection, it fell to Janvrin who poked it home her third goal of the year.

The Spartans continued to challenge the Stars offensively but solid goalkeeping from Maeghan Ely held MBU off the board through halftime and into the second 45. Ely would finish the day with 11 saves. Missouri Baptist attempted a total of 25 shots compared to just one for Stephens. Dunahue led the way with four on target followed by two each by Janvrin and Alayna Buxton.

Jemica Artillaga made the Spartans lone save at the defensive end—a difficult diving stop to her right on a semi-breakaway from the Stars' Anya Castelli. Artillaga and freshman Hanna Harrison have now combined to hold opponents scoreless over the last four games—376 minutes of game time dating back to the second half against Columbia on October 2.

Missouri Baptist will return to action on Wednesday at Lindenwood-Belleville (7-8, 5-4 AMC). Kick off on the other side of the river is scheduled for 7 pm.
